<![CDATA[Sally & mark. Haul]]>Sat, 03 Apr 2010 07:00:00 GMThttp://www.candyishmakeup.com/2/post/2010/04/sally-mark-haul.htmlHey guys! I know I've been going kind of haul crazy lately, but I keep finding amazing stuff at amazing prices that I simply can't pass up. If you guys love a good deal half as much as I do, hopefully you don't mind all of my haul posts!

Follow the cut for swatchy goodness!
First up is the Sally Beauty Supply portion of this haul.
Picture
They have a deal going on for buy two lashes, get one free..so my mom got a pair (after falling in love with the effect when I tried some on her) and I got two. Most of my lashes are either really crazy or really subtle, so I wanted something kind of in the middle. The ones I decided on were the Demi Wispies and #109.

Seche Vite is probably the most well known top coat out there, and I feel a little late hopping on this train. I believe it's usually $8 and for as little as I actually use a top coat (almost never since I Konad a lot and it smears it) I couldn't bring myself to buy it. Right now it's on sale for $6 so I figured I might as well suck it up and go for it. We'll see how it compares to every other top coat out there. I also picked up a China Glaze Matte Magic top coat. If your Sally's has any of these left on clearance, go buy them. I already have five or six bottles, but got most of them after they went on clearance for a dollar. I absolutely love the look of matte polish and if you haven't tried it, I highly recommend it!

Last, but certainly not least, I picked up two of the Sally Girl Mini Baked Eyeshadows in Dark Green (388120), which is actually a teal, and Dark Purple (388127). The only real complaint I have with these is that the color names aren't on the bottom, which makes it difficult for tutorial use, but luckily the color names are on the site. These are quite small to look at, but are actually a whopping 1.4g..that's .1g less than a MAC shadow! The color payoff is great, and even more impressive when used wet, so for $1 you really can't go wrong.

Now for the mark. goodies!
Picture
We found a little shop that was selling a ton of fake purses, Avon and mark. so I decided to try a few things to see if I wanted to become a mark. rep. The only bad thing about buying things from a shop or a flea market, where you can almost always find Avon, is that most of the stuff is discontinued. I couldn't find anything I bought on the site, but I wanted to share it with you guys anyway so you could get a feel for the quality if you haven't tried anything from their line.

The moisturizer, things you dew, is light and has a nice smell. I can't say much else about it since I've only had a day to try it out, but I am already a little bummed that they no longer have it.

As far as makeup goes, I picked up a good glowing blush in Angel Glo, which is a super pale pink with sparkles. I pretty much have nothing like this in my collection and thought it would make a nice cheek highlight. They are a great size at 5.2g and retail for $7, not bad at all.

The two eyeshadow singles I got are Fancy, which is a shimmery pastel yellow with a very slight green duochrome, and Vixen, which is a matte purple brown. It's kind of hard to describe, but at any rate, they're both really nice. These are 2.5g and retail for $5.
Picture

Phew, that's all. Sorry for the wordy post, but I'm really impressed with my finds and that tends to make me ramble on. I hope you guys enjoyed this and have (or had) a wonderful Easter!

<![CDATA[Sephora Haul]]>Sun, 28 Mar 2010 07:00:00 GMThttp://www.candyishmakeup.com/2/post/2010/03/post-title-click-and-type-to-edit.html
Picture
Hey guys! It's been a long couple of days so my mom and I decided to go to Sephora for a little pick-me-up. Follow the cut for swatches!
Okay! So I got two Sephora brand Nano Liners in Pearl Beige and Azur Blue, a Sephora brand lipstick in Mr. Lover, a sample of Benefit's Moonbeam and a sample of Too Faced Shadow Insurance! I can't wait to try the last two things, but the other three are totally awesome. I wanted the beige liner to brighten up my waterline without using white and this is PERFECT for that, and once I saw that blue I couldn't resist it. They are a little smudgy but I don't think it will be a big problem. I got the lipstick after seeing this video by the lovely greenie247..it's this obnoxiously bright reddy-fuchsia (though it looks much more red in my photo) and the texture is amazing! Very creamy, and it smells nice, too. And BTW, those liners are only $5! They're small, but I can see them lasting a long time, especially if it's a color you wouldn't use every single day, like the blue.

<![CDATA[Drugstore Haul]]>Thu, 25 Mar 2010 06:40:22 GMThttp://www.candyishmakeup.com/2/post/2010/03/drugstore-haul.htmlHey guys! Thanks to the lovely Cora, aka vintageortacky, I went shopping for some Wet 'N Wild palettes that she showed me. I ended up buying more than just what I set out for, of course, so follow the cut for the haul, swatches and dupes!
Alright..let's get to it. First of all, I always check my local circulars by going to each stores website so I can always find the best deal. This week it just so happened to be K-Mart offering BOGO on Wet 'N Wild and 30% off of Cover Girl, and Rite Aid had BOGO on Cover Girl mascara. So..here's what I got.

Two Cover Girl eyeshadow singles in Tapestry Taupe and Aqua Paradise and two Wet 'N Wild palettes in Pride and Lust.
Picture
Two Cover Girl mascaras : Exact Eyelights in Black Pearl and Lash Blast Length in Very Black.
Picture
I'll start with the mascara since there are no swatch pictures and I want you to stick around 'til the end. :D

You should all know from my mascara comparison that I adore Exact Eyelights. My opinion hasn't changed at all, it was just time for a new one. As for LBL, I've been wanting to try it out and with Rite Aid having a BOGO, now was the perfect time. It really does give a good amount of length, but not much girth. I didn't have any issues with clumping and it was pretty easy to take off with a makeup wipe. We'll see how I like it as I use it more.

Now for those delicious eyeshadows! Tapestry Taupe caught my eye because I've been really into neutrals lately, but ended up applying like a MAC Lustre (which if you haven't tried is a chunky glittery fall-out mess) so it promptly went back. Aqua Paradise is a nice dupe for MAC's Parrot eyeshadow, which is LE. I don't have Parrot but from some comparison swatches I've seen, the CG eyeshadow looks a little more shimmer, which isn't an issue for me. And just FYI - Cover Girl single eyeshadows are 2.5g for around $3, MAC eyeshadows are 1.5g for $11 (pro pan). Big savings!
Picture
Now the Wet 'N Wild palettes. Holy MAC dupe central! As soon as Cora started swatching the Lust palette for me I knew I had to have it. Each palette has three mattes (left side) and three shimmer or glitters (right side). They are all soft and slightly powdery, but for less than half the price of a single MAC eyeshadow, I'm not complaining.
Picture
Picture
See what I mean? Those do not look like the drug store eyeshadows of the past..but they aren't. I, along with many of you, have noticed a big change in the drug store brand quality, which is wonderful. Now let's take a look at some possible dupes (the closest Cora and I could come up with, at least)!

Pride Palette : L to R, top to bottom, all MAC
Gesso
Filament (but less crappy)
Newly Minted
Steamy
Prussian (but insanely pigmented)
Deep Truth

Lust Palette : L to R, top to bottom, all MAC
Malt (but more pink)
Fairylite Pigment
Fig. 1
Knight Devine (but more pigmented and shimmery)
Shadowy Lady
Beauty Marked (but again, less crappy)
Picture
For this picture I swatched Humid instead of Steamy (I don't have it) Graphology instead of Shadowy Lady (I don't have it, either), but it's a touch too blue toned..which makes me think Shadowy Lady would be almost exact.

I hope this helped save some of you guys a little money, I know it definitely saved me quite a bit! I got my palettes for a whopping $5 total..as opposed to the $132 I would have spent on MAC shadows in the same colors (and that's assuming I only got pro pans)!

Thanks for looking and have a great day!

Picture
Hey guys! This is my first entry for the big Alice in Wonderland contest being hosted by four lovely girls on YouTube. This one was inspired by the White Queen and the Red Queen. The strong brows, white shadow and dark lip color are supposed to represent the White Queen while the blue and deep purple shadows and heart shaped lips represent the Red Queen. Unfortunately the purple reads more gray in the pictures, but I hope you guys like this!
